Sagaing

Mingun

Mingun is actually a small village in countryside, the monuments, remarkable events, beauty and many things in Mingun have it famed equally to those ancient cities Mandalay, Innwa, Amarapura and so on.

Home for the Aged

It is located on the frontier of the river bank, the earliest one of its kind in Myanmar. Daw Oo Zun built 3 huts in
toddy-leaves near the large leographs. Home for the aged in Mingun is the best refugee-place for the aged and offer the
maximum convenience and security in their dying period.

The Great Bell

The gigantic bell is the largest of its kind in Myanmar and the third largest bell all over the world. The greatness, sweet sound and relevant are so impressive that every visit will share a beautiful history and scenery.

Pahtodawgyi or The Great Stupa

Assuming an immense brick-pile. It is, in fact, one of the 4 greats and mostly taken care to be the noblest workmanship by King Bodawpaya. In February 1797, one could climb up to its summit.

The two Colossal leographs

Among the lion figures in Myanmar, the colossal leographs in Mingun are the largest in size of its kind. The ruins of two colossal leographs, one ninety-five feet in height, stand between it (the great stupa) and the river.

Myatheindan Pagoda (Hsinphyume Pagoda)

Myatheindan Pagoda in Mingun is some interesting in its unique architectural formation. The Myatheingdan Pagoda of Myanmar and Borobudur Temple of Indonesia really look alike in their concept and architecture formation; the seven concentric terraces, there rises a cylindrical body with a vaulted sanctum and crowned by a stupa on top.

Settawya Paya

It is, actually, preferred a pair of Buddha footprints carved on white marble-slabs, inside a temple crowned by a stupa, which is graciously decorated in fine stucco-carving on the crenulated parapet with mythical figures.

Innwa

Mahazeyapata Bridge

It is Mahazeyapata Bridge in Pali language and means great victory, covered from the Hanthawaddy gate on the southern face of Innwa city wall to the other end at Tada-U Township with a length of about 1 mile with leograph figures and a large hostel on both ends. That bridge is still serving the convenience and useful purposes for the way-farers.

Iron alms-bowl Industry

The sweet beating sound, arising the curiosity and looking around pausing under the peaceful shady trees of century-old on both sides, comes from one of the traditional cottage industries, iron alms-bowl. To be frank, few people keep that traditional work. It is the harmonious combination of blacksmith, and lacquerware work. Thus, 2 in 1 industry.

Watch Tower

There is the Nan-Myint or Watch Tower a square campanile fine masonry. This is the only monument of palace buildings at ancient Innwa. The top most of that tower is accessed through the three steps of stairs. It is, still, the major visiting site.

Maha Aungmyaybonzan Monastery

The next visiting site is called Maha Aungmyaybonzan monastery of Me Nu. The grand brick monastery with its admirable architecture and fine stucco-carving is still sharing the breath-taking beauty.

Bagaya Monastery

It is entirely of fine teak-wood and in the traditional monastic architecture, known as Bagaya Monastery. The floor is lifted by large teak-posts and corridor with balustrades, crowned by spiral roofs. The decoration of flora designs and fauna forms, especially, peacock and leograph figures are richly carved most of the parts of the building beautifully.

Kedah Fort

Another visiting site in Innwa is called Kedah Fort. Because of inconvenient track through the country houses and apart from other visiting points, this site is not commonly enjoyed. Kedah fort in Innwa, Servant Fort in Sagaing and Thebyetan Fort in Mandalay were in triad position. Once an elephant kedah in Innwa was scientifically transformed to be an important fort.

Amarapura

Kyauktawgyi Pagoda

Kyauktawgyi is situated at Taung Thaman village. The image was venerated at Innwa capital. That image was firstly resided in front of Bongywa moastic complex between the two Taungthaman villages. To shelter the Buddha image, it was constructed in similar ground-plan. Henry Yule C. Grant portrayed the temple of Kyauktawgyi. The temple is set on a square ground-plan, measuring 133 feet and 6 inches each side and come up to a height of 118 feet and 6 inches. The most striking features of the temples are that of the mural paintings.

U Bein Bridge

The mayor of Innwa and his clerk Mg Bein intentionally erected a bridge of wood over the Taungtha man Lake with the material of old palace. It is one of the major visiting points and the best place for photograph taking and sunset appreciation. The most remarkable point of that bridge is that no iron nail was used and the bridge is something like in right tangle to be the head of an arrow. The longest wooden bridge in Asia, may be over the world, is known as U Bein Bridge on Taungthaman still ure the hearts of visitors.

Meze Avenue

There are the long shady trees of Meze on both sides of the road. Even at a casual look, these trees could be recognized as century-old trees. One thing is sure that you will be really delightful and enjoyable if you come to participate in that flower collecting of Meze Avenue.

Monywa

Kyaukka Village

It is the largest lacquerware production centre in Myanmar, after Bagan. In Konbaung period, Monywa's environs largely produced dried-lacquer Buddha images but plain-lacquerware today. Also, Shweguni Pagoda with its Buddha image are enjoyable.

Thanbuddhe Temple

It is a unique architecture surprisingly erected by the design of Ven. Moenyin Sayadaw and local masons, no professional architects. The structures and designs are closely similar to Indian architecture. The square banner-posts and various sizes of Buddha images in their respective recesses are of curious.

Bodhitahtaung

Over a thousand of marble or plaster Buddha images are resting under their trees in a spacious compound. A large reclining Buddha image on the mountain slope and tower of toddy palm trunk are also enjoyable.

Po Win and Shwe Ba

These are natural hillocks composed of vocalnic rocks and beautifully adorned with man-made caves. About a total of 800 caves having over 1300 Buddha images with striking mural paintings on the walls had a Korean scholar carefully identified and interpreted as a research work for his master thesis and another lady, may be from Taiwan, curiously has written for her presentation paper recently. Naturally, these architectural remains should be highly regarded as the major glories of Monywa and its environs.

Khin Mon village

It lies on Mandalay-Monywa Road. Aungmyaylawka Pagoda, Yokesone Monastery and other monuments at the village retains mural paintings and other arts of late Konbaung period, some about 200 years ago. They are very little known, even to local people.
